Flying Lotus’ futuristisches Label Brainfeeder entwickelt sich immer mehr zum Labor fuer die amerikanische Version zeitgenossischer Bassmusik. Von Anfang an sorgten die Releases fuer gespitzte Ohren. Vor kurzem hat das Londoner Label Ninja Tune den internationalen Vertrieb uebernommen – und Lorn ist das erste Album-Ergebnis dieser Kooperation. Sein richtiger Name lautet Marcos Ortega, er kommt aus Illinois, mag wunderlich verfremdete Synthesizer-Flaechen wie auch tiefe Sub-Baesse und fabriziert atmosphaerischen Avant-HipHop mit klaren Kanten. Auf seinem duesteren und berauschenden Debuetalbum mit dem bescheidenen Titel “Nothing Else” beweist Lorn ein untruegliches Gespuer fuer eingaengige Melodien und wahnwitzige Soundkapriolen. Von pulsierenden Subbaessen angetrieben bilden hier hypnotische Technoklaenge, abgedaempfte Acid-Spielereien, chirurgisch-praezise editierte Percussions und minimalistische Arrangements den Kern des Geschehens. Mit 12 kurzen und knackigen Instrumentals setzt Lorn ein grandioses Statement fuer Dubstep abseits der allseits bekannten abgrundtiefen Bass-Schluchten. Die erste Single-Auskopplung “Cherry Moon” ist ein deeper Ambient Track zum Zuruecklehnen, Geniessen und Traeumen. Im Falle von Lorn ist die Duesternis etwas Schones, mit der er sich nahezu perfekt in die Philosophie des Labels Brainfeeder einfuegt. Ausserdem besucht uns der junge Brite Matt Cutler alias Lone, der sich spaetestens mit seinem Album “Emerald Fantasy Tracks” als perfekte Symbiose aus Frueh-Neunziger Warp-Sound mit unschuldig fiependen Bleeps and Clonks, sensiblen Melodien a la Black Dog und jugendlicher Rave-Euphorie erwiesen hat. Inspiriert von Lo-Fi-Sample-Genies wie Madlib und J Dilla oder den verspulten IDM-Kaskaden von Aphex Twin seziert Lone den HudMo-Wonky und den GlitchHop eines Flying Lotus und schaltet noch eine gehorige Portion Dance dazu. KOMONAZMUK Komonazmuk kommt in die Stadt, um den heiss erwarteten Release seines Albums auf H.E.N.C.H mit einem Liveset gebuehrend zu feiern. Seit seinem letzten Berlin-Auftritt bei der Freak Camp Session vor vier Jahren hat sich viel getan in der Bassmusik. Damals stand er noch mit einem Bein fest im dunkelsten Dubstep und hatte sich mit Veroffentlichungen auf Tempa, Terminal Dusk, Combat und dem von Ihm betriebenen Mode Label mehr als nur einen Namen gemacht. Drum’N'Bass-Heads kennen Komonazmuk sowieso nicht erst seit seinem Beitrag zu Metalheadz’ Genesis EP im letzten Jahr. Denn bereits Ende der 90er veroffentlichte er mit seinem Projekt Ice Minus unter anderem auf Hardleaders und Audio Couture. Seitdem hat er einen langen musikalischen Weg zurueckgelegt, der Ihn in den letzten Jahren verstaerkt in Richtung Techno, House und auch zurueck zu Garage gefuehrt hat. Sein Album reflektiert diese neue Offenheit in dunkel schimmernden Klangfarben. T.WILLIAMS T.Williams ist den Grime-Fans noch gut als Teil von Jon E Cash’s Black Ops Posse in Erinnerung. Unter dem Namen Dread D zeichnet er fuer einige Hits des Genres verantwortlich, unter anderem fuer Invasion. Alle anderen kennen ihn spaetestens seit seiner Heartbeat-Hymne auf Local Action und seinen Releases auf dem Ramp Sublabel Pattern. Deep Teknologi wurde von ihm 2008 ins Leben gerufen um House an der Grenze zu advanceter Bassmusik zu featuren. Neben dem Labelboss steht bereits mit MA1, J.
