The newcomer band Klangstof consists of two Norwegians, Dutch producer Koen van de Wardt, who started his musical path at the age of 14 while growing up one hour away from civilization in the middle of Norway and a fellow Dutchman. It might be a bit too late to label the band as newcomers, though.
As Zane Lowe, the guru for new music at Apple Music’s radio station Beats One has been playing their songs constantly over the last months. He described Klangstofs song „Hostage“ as a combination of the production tendencies of the The Weeknd and the soaring beauty of Sigur Rós. For the song „Amansworld“ Noisey on the other hand found a beautiful metaphor: „It sounds like lust and anxiety baked in the late afternoon heat“.
Klangstof released their debut album „Close Eyes To Exit“ in September. In February one will have the chance to see the talented four-piece live on stage, when they play their first German headline shows in Cologne and Berlin.
