Formed in 2000, the three original members included Danny Methric on guitar and lead vocals, Tony DeNardo on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Matt Rost on drums. The debut received excellent reviews in a number of newspapers, and triggered somewhat of a breakthrough for the band. Norwegian daily Aftenposten wrote: “rough garage rock making sparks fly. Their latest album “the kids are up to no good” consists of 13 quality rock tunes with elements from punk, garage, soul, power pop and surf. The lyrics are mainly about exactly what rock should be about; girls, intoxication and dancing. The band is known for their energetic and intense live performances, and have already played at festivals such as the Oeya festival, by: larm, Buktafestivalen and Manefestivalen, to name a few. The modern Eldorados were formed in 1996 as a vehicle for singer/songwriter Gretsch Lyle’s original brand of classic country music. Raised in a family of musicians, Lyles which heavily influenced by his grandparent’s generation of country greats. Growing up in rural Baldwin County, Alabama he began singing and playing guitar by the age of six and wrote his first song at sixteen. From a very early age he felt the calling to follow in the footsteps of his heroes Marty Robbins, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. In both sound and style, Gretsch Lyles is the embodiment of his musical influences. Gretsch and his band, the modern Eldorados that have evolved a sound taps deep into the roots of traditional country, western swing and the rockabilly style. His songs are said to read like a roadmap tracing the roots of American music. The band has also been described as a “cultural asset and a mobile music treasure”.
