Festival: Off Fest, Katovice, Poland

The Flaming Lips

We’re a bit starved for really awesome festivals here in Berlin, so the likes of you and I are going to have to travel a little bit. Since you’re probably working for €6 an hour in a backpacker hostel or sumfink, money is important to you (although in today’s wintery economice climate, who is that not true for, I ask), so cheap is best.

With one of the strongest lineups of the european festival calendar and held in one of the cheaper of the states local to us, OFF FESTIVAL in Katovice, Poland is perfect for you. I don’t really know you, but I stand behind my wild allegations. €30 for a three day pass is absurdly thrifty, and check out the lineup:

The Rumble Strips on 02/03/10

British five piece The Rumble Strips bring the jaunt to Berlin, bringing the Spring season to a lovely open. If you’re up for a night of feel good party music, without all the doom and death and destruction that comes with seeing a bunch of goth metal concerts as I know you have been recently, then the Rumble Strips might be just the ticket to wash the last of the winter goth makeup from around your bleary eyes.

We don't jaunt.

They are right just kicking off a massive 19 date UK/Europe tour, which sadly suggests that we might not get an new album from them in the next while, but the two albums we DO have, are enough to keep us bopping around in our various bedrooms for the foreseeable future, I’m sure.

They’re playing at Bang Bang Club, which has it’s ups and downs, ups being that the place itself is great, downs being that it’s right in the middle of tourist-trappy Hackescher Markt and as well the door staff can be uppity shitheads when they feel like it. Really. Do watch your step coming in and out of there. But, you know, rumble strips, so it’s all okay.
