IMG 1582 1024x768 Young Guns at MagnetWhen I read some comments on Facebook regarding Young Gun’s shows in Stuttgart and Frankfurt I was prepared for the worst. Apparently, the band had only played for about 40 minutes in each of those cities and left without an encore. So I was under the impression that the band hat only rehearsed a set of 12 songs, the same ones they would play on their support tour for Enter Shikari.

The Berlin show had been moved from Comet Club to Magnet Club on short notice and it’s a good thing it was. Magnet Club has a bigger floor and the sound quality is usually much better. Yet the room was half empty when I got there just after the support act, Lowe Than Atlantis, had finished their set. Still the crowd seemed decent enough. After all, I had seen The Chapman Family play in front of no more than 20 people in this place.

Lights went out at nine and Young Guns took to the stage. Frontman Gustav Wood was dressed in a Lower Than Atlantis T-Shirt. I am always amazed by how much some bands support each other – this is probably the best about bands bringing their own supports rather than pulling in some random last minute local support. By that time I sincerely regretted having missed their set.

Young Guns kicked off with a few songs from their first album (All Our Kings Are Dead) and I was surprised how well everyone was able to sing along, particularly during the quiet part inStitches. After all, this was the band’s first headline tour in Germany. Being a fan only since the second album Bones which was just released I enjoyed myself most when they played songs from that record. My favourite song Learn My Lesson
