After a successful landing with 3 sold out events in 2014, Ja Ja Ja Berlin is happily sliding onto a new year with another interesting line up. As the first edition of the year, Ja Ja Ja Berlin invited Swedish dark electronic pop newcomer DNKL, Norwegian indie kids Kid Astray and Finnish pop duo Eva & Manu. Ja Ja Ja takes place at FluxBau, in cooperation with FluxFM and nothingbuthopeandpassion.

The latest Scandinavian pop mavericks certain to take up a place in your heart are Norway’s Kid Astray, a motley crew of six friends (including a former junior golf champion, Italian Vogue model and piano prodigy), all in their late teens and early twenties, who knock out day-glo, indie-tinged dance-pop with the effortless ease of musicians with pure pop running through their veins. Benjamin Giørtz, Elizabeth Wu, Alex Meek, Even Steine, Håkon Carlin and Jakob Bechmann – for it is they – may have only just finished school, but their musical studies have already earned them massive summer festival slots back home and critical international plaudits from the likes of Rolling Stone, Radio 1, Noisey and The Guardian. With sky-scraping hooks and earworm melodies, Kid Astray are here to make you fall in love with expertly-crafted music all over again.

Finnish-French duo Eva & Manu released their debut album in 2012 and immediately took their place in the Finnish music scene. Critics and audience loved their pure & catchy folk-pop sound and the duo got immediately nominated at Emma Gaala (Finnish Grammy) in the category ‘Best New Act’. In Germany the two lovely characters were invited by ZDF Morgenmagazin and magazines like Mercedes Benz Magazin and Rolling Stone praised their fresh and awake tune. Now the band has released their second album ‘Cinnamon Hearts’ and tastemaker blogs such as Kaltblut, NBHAP and Berlin radio station FluxFM are already drawn in by the sweet melodies of the band.

It’s been exciting twelve months for Swedish trio DNKL. Emerging from their Gothenburg basement studio at the end of 2013, the trio have been featured on some of the most influential music websites such as DIY, The Guardian, played at some of Europe’s biggest festivals such as Roskilde, Way Out West and won over a legion of fans around the world with their mesmerizing, dark electronic pop. THE FADER is describing DNKL’s second single Battles as the “best-of-both-worlds bridging M83’s earlier synth work and later rock styling” and Notion Magazine as “pop done right”. DNKL’s official debut release, the “Wolfhour” EP is out now on US label Sugarcane Recordings.
