With three EPs under their belt, Macclesfield quintet Racing Glaciers are one of the most exciting rock acts coming out of the UK at the moment. Tonight’s show at Lido marks their third trip to Berlin within less than a year and also their first headline gig. It won’t be long before these guys get big, so catch them while you can. Their most recent EP, Don’t Wait For Me, dropped in August this year and saw them playing shows on the mainland for the first time.
Founded in summer 2012, as a home-recording project, Racing Glaciers grew quickly into a 5 piece displaying a varied and progressive sound. Taking cues from the Alt and Post-Rock pantheon, a Racing Glaciers live performance shifts effortlessly between lilting balladry and cosmic shoe gaze rock-outs, favouring long simmering builds to euphoric crescendos. Fronted by vocalist and principle songwriter Tim Monaghan, Racing Glaciers’ songs feature rich sonic-landscaping often riffing on agile 3-guitar arrangements.
