We Invented Paris aren’t from Paris, other than the name might suggest. In fact, they are based in Basel, Switzerland, a city located on the Rhine bordering on Germany and France that is commonly known for its pharmaceutical industry rather than its musical output (if you discount the annual Basel Tattoo).

We Invented Paris is a European artist collective – a pool of likeminded musicians and friends who take pride in constantly “re-inventing” their anthemic yet introspective songs and have thus far played more than 200 shows all over the continent. It’s very much a DIY-project with a difference in that it doesn’t just feature musicians but also other “creatives” such as designers, photographers and filmmakers. They released their critical acclaimed self-titled debut in 2011.

For the recordings of their eagerly anticipated 2nd album Rocket Spaceship Thing the “Inventors of Paris” locked themselves away in an old castle and found the perfect conditions for developing and crafting their new material. It will be their first release outside of mainland Europe.

Rocket Spaceship Thing will be released on Spectacular Spectacular in Spring 2014.
