Errors is a 4 piece band from Glasgow, Scotland. Originally formed in 2004 by Simon Ward, Stephen Livingstone and Greg Paterson on the back of a 3 track demo recorded in Simon’s bedroom the band quickly set about making a name for themselves in their hometown with their unique take on dance music. The band were soon taken under the wing of Mogwai who signed them to their Rock Action label alongside the likes of Part Chimp and James Orr Complex.
Lease of Life is the follow up to Errors’ critically acclaimed 2012 album Have Some Faith In Magic. Formulated on the Hebridean Isle Of Jura – the location where George Orwell wrote Nineteen Eighty-Four and the place where The KLF are rumoured to have burned a million pounds – it’s a bold work borne by the confidence and ambition of a band with a desire to combine the exploration of fresh soundworlds combined with their most accessible, immediate songwriting yet. Lease of Life is also the band’s most cohesive album statement to date: a start-to-finish experience that’s bound by recurring constituents and accomplished craft.
A new lease of life is just what the fourth album from the Glasgow band demonstrates, its new ambitions evident from the outset, likewise a desire to challenge themselves to explore fresh soundworlds. ‘Lease Of Life’ is a bold work borne by confidence and shaped, partially, by newly acquired vintage hardware, synthesizers and drum machines. It’s an album on which familiarly alien technology is combined with these musicians’ most accessible, immediate songwriting yet.
