Duus and Potter’s vision in late 2014 of creating “some kind of dream-punk” quickly became a reality after meeting guitarists Yeoman and Mostacci, and indulging in long writing sessions away from the centre of town in the district of Marzahn, in Berlin’s East suburbs. Holed up in the sixth floor of one of many looming tower blocks in the area with a view facing far out east, their own strain of noisy post-punk was cultivated.
Astral Tide will be showcasing their forthcoming debut release ‘How far, are you out there?’ The six track EP was recorded live in three days, with the band all in one room facing each other around the drum kit in the baking mid-summer heat of Kreuzberg. The urgency of the live setup allowed the four-piece to lay the songs down in the most natural and raucous way possible, displaying a wide range of influences from space rock to breakbeat, sludge, dub and noise-pop.
