BLURT

Ted Milton + Steve Eagles + David Aylward
http://www.tedmilton.net/news/index.html

For some time after Blurt were relatively inactive, playing live only occasionally, and releasing no new records until 1984. Guitarist Pete Creese departed, and was replaced by Steve Eagles, formerly of pop hopefuls Thepotos. A second studio album Bullets for You was followed by single White Line Fever, as well as a second live album, Friday The 12th(recorded at Kortrijk, Belgium, in October 1984). Milton also released a solo single, Love Is Like A Violence, telling David Quantick of NME in February 1985: ‘I can see lots of opportunities that I’ve failed to take, doors have opened and I’ve not gone through them. Maybe that’s a good thing that I’ve not gone through. There was a radio ad, which said a great dog deserves a great dog food. And I thought the two… a great dog deserves a great dog food, so fuck you! It’s like, so that is success.’

The revitalized Blurt went on to record a series of singles and albums including Poppycock (1986), Smoke Time(1987), Pagan Strings (1992) and Celebrating the bespoke Cell of Little Ease (1999), some released on their own Toeblock label, and more recently corruscating long playerCut It, issued by LTM in October 2010, featuring new drummer David Aylward. Two Best Of Blurt volumes were also compiled by Salamander. Ted and Blurt continue to perform and record around Europe, and remain a cult underground institution. There are worse forms of death, Ted.

AUF

Anne Rohlfs (Wuhling. Allroh) und Mathias Brendel (Peaches)

AUF is the new band (founded 2013) of singer and guitarrist ANNE ROLFS and drummer MATHIAS BRENDEL, based in Berlin.
Anne Rolfs first came to prominence as the frontwoman of the now-legendary Berlin alternative rock band Wuhling, who were discovered by Steve Albini in the 90s and was the first European act signed to US label Touch & Go.

After two albums, Rolfs left the band, embarking on a solo career under the name Allroh (EP “Nym” 2008 and album “Hag Dec” 2009). During this time, she spent two years searching for the right drummer before finding Mathias Brendel, who hit the skins for Peaches on her last world tour and supported Motörhead in 2010 with his other band Skew Siskin. The two holed themselves up in a rehearsal space for a year and a half and recorded their first EP before Shellac came knocking, inviting AUF to join them on tour as support for their shows in Germany, which took place at the end of May.
