It’s the 2nd Monday of the month and once again multilayerladen will host The Listening Get-Together. If you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s an event that invites people to listen to entire vinyl records and let’s them discuss the music in a relaxed atmosphere. An interesting concept in a world where skipping tracks has become a norm we’re all guilty of.
This time on the turntable will be an album that received the kind of critical acclaim just a rare few records could boast. The dark, chilling and deeply personal “Closer” by Joy Division. Released under Factory Records as FACT 25 in 1980, just two months after Ian Curtis’s premature death, it marked the end of the Manchester band and the beginning of his legend. Certainly the kind of album one should listen to at least once back to back.
The icing on the cake is an opportunity to actually win the record at the end of the night, all you need to do to take part is chip in with a donation to cover the cost of the album. Entry is otherwise free.
Doors open at 20:00 and listening starts a 21:00 after a short history of the band and an introduction to the record.
