To celebrate the release of their sophomore album Parodos, Yesterday Shop kick off their German tour at Lido tonight. Parodos is a Greek term and in ancient Greek theatre it is the term for the ode sung by the chorus as it enters the orchestra. The parodos follows the prologue as the album follows their debut and marks a new step on their musical journey. Both albums were released on their very own label Trickser (Dråpe, Farao).
Parodos is the follow up to their 2012 self-titled debut on which they impressed us with their brit pop tinged pop rock. Yesterday Shop have developed their very own sound among myriads of other bands. They’re not just another indie electro pop band with four-on-the-floor beats and synths. They remind me of a time when Blur still stood a chance against Oasis and Coldplay were a serious band and rather than radio landfill. Yesterday Shop oscillate between melancholic ballads (Trees & Games) and catchy pop rock (Life Is Good).
